This paper discusses the design advances of disposable gear cutting tools, specificallythose which have produced the
non-resharpenableWaferTMhob, the applicationof the tools, andthe benefits derivedfrom applying these tools in gear
manufacturing. The concurrent development of hobbing machines capable of efficientlyapplying these tool designs is
also detailed.
