This extended edition of part Table le contains the administrative divisions of Canada, down to Administrative Regions, Municipalities and Urban Communities; and the administrative divisions of the USA, down to the primary divisions of individual states (Counties, Boroughs and Parishes). Census areas are used for those parts of Alaska that do not yet have formally constituted local government.
As there will often be a need for tables at an extended level of detail for the user's own country and for certain other users specializing in information about the country concerned, the tables for the USA are subdivided to a greater level of detail than those in the Master Reference File (see the Foreword), but are compatible with it.
