- Scope
- This document serves as a general electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) emission standard and is applicable only when no specific product or product category EMC emission standards have been published.
The emission requirements specified in this document apply to electrical and electronic equipment used in residential environments (see 3.1.14), as well as other environments, where the equipment is not included within the scope of IEC61000-6-4 or IEC61000-6-8. The purpose of this document is to ensure that all electrical and electronic devices used in residential, commercial, and light industrial environments are covered by this document or IEC61000-6-8. If there is any conflict, the requirements of this document shall prevail.
This document specifies test requirements for conducted and radiated emissions up to 400 GHz with the aim of providing adequate protection to receiving equipment in electromagnetic environments as specified above.
The tests specified in this document do not cover all types of interference; they only consider interference phenomena related to devices operating within the environments listed herein.
The emission requirements defined in this document are not applicable to intentional emissions and their harmonics from radio transmitters as defined by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Note 1: This document does not include safety requirements.
Note 2: In certain special cases, the limits specified in this document may not provide adequate protection. For example, when sensitive receiving equipment is used near such devices. In these situations, additional measures might be necessary to improve the situation.
Note 3: This document does not cover interference generated by faulty devices.
Note 4: The requirements of this document are stricter or equivalent to those in IEC61000-6-4 and IEC61000-6-8. Devices that meet the requirements of this document will also satisfy the requirements of IEC61000-6-4 and IEC61000-6-8.
