5 Cultivation Techniques
5.1 Variety Selection
High-yielding, high-quality indica rice varieties suitable for local cultivation should be selected. The seed quality shall comply with the requirements of GB 4404.1.
5.2 Seedling Production
Factory-based seedling production should conform to DB21/T 2163; non-woven fabric-covered seedling production should follow DB21/T 1285.
5.3 Transplanting
Transplanting operations should comply with the provisions of DB21/T 2750.
5.4 Field Management
Routine fertilizer and water management shall be carried out according to Chapter 8 of DB21/T 3456-2021. Pest, disease, and weed control should follow the regulations in DB21/T 3374.
6 Selenium Fertilizer Application Techniques
6.1 Selection of Selenium Fertilizers
Sodium selenite water-soluble fertilizers are preferred. The quality of the fertilizer shall meet the requirements specified in NY/T 1428.
6.2 Timing of Application
Application is recommended during the mid-pasting stage, and it should be done on an overcast day or after 4 PM on a sunny day by foliar application. If the fertilization is washed away by rain within 8 hours after spraying, additional applications may be necessary.
6.3 Dosage of Selenium
The dosage of sodium selenite per 667 m2 ranges from 0.45 g to 1.77 g.
6.4 Application Methods
6.4.1 Drone Application
For every 667 m2, the quantity specified in 6.3 should be mixed with water (1 kg to 2 kg), thoroughly mixed, and applied evenly using a drone for plant protection. The application must comply with the regulations set forth in DB21/T 3674.
6.4.2 Manual Application
For every 667 m2, mix the quantity specified in 6.3 with water (15 kg to 30 kg) and apply using a sprayer or pesticide equipment. Ensure that the dosage is not excessive and that the application is even.
7 Harvesting
Harvest when 90% of the rice grains' hulls have turned yellow after heading. Mechanical harvesting should follow the guidelines in DB21/T 2750.
8 Production Records
Detailed records should be kept of production management measures taken at each stage, including site environment, pest and disease control, harvest, and selenium fertilizer application. Such records must be retained for at least two years.
