This standard covers the method of measuring the proportions of pearlite@ ferrite and carbide in the matrix which affect the mechanical properties and the wear resistance of cast irons including gray@ spheroidal graphite and malleable cast irons. This standard shall apply to the parts made of cast iron@ in the drawings of which matrix structure is specified.
