Analysis of key technical requirements

1. Carbonization performance determination

The new standard specifies that the sample size is 50mm±2mm cube/cylinder, and adds two new requirements:

  • The number of samples changes from no regulation to at least 2
  • The sample grinding after carbonization must meet the particle size requirements of GB/T16555-2017

Application case:

A Resin bonded magnesia carbon bricks adopt a new method to determine the carbonization mass loss rate, and the parallel test deviation is reduced from the original 1.2% to 0.5%.

2. Antioxidation Test

New chapter to standardize the antioxidant test process, key parameters:

Parameters Requirements
Specimen size 50mm±2mmcube/cylinder
Temperature program 8-10℃/min(Room temperature-1000℃)→4℃/min(>1000℃)
Air flow 4L/minConstant

Background of Standard Revision

This revision is based on the ISO10060:1993 international standard and mainly meets the following three requirements:

  1. Expand the scope of application to all dense shaped carbon-containing refractory products
  2. Improve the measurement accuracy requirements (such as increasing the weighing accuracy to 0.1g)
  3. Supplement the missing test methods such as oxidation resistance

Implementation Suggestions

Key Points for Laboratory Renovation

  • Update the balance equipment to division value ≤0.1g
  • Configure a heat-resistant steel carbonization box that meets the dimensions of Figure 1
  • Establish a carbonization test furnace with a temperature control accuracy of ±10℃

Test process optimization

For class=instrument>Asphalt bonded productsSpecial attention:

  • Drying temperature must be strictly controlled below 40℃
  • Physical property tests must be conducted at 22±2℃
  • Samples containing antioxidants must be tested within 24 hours after carbonization
