SAE AMS7361B-2023 Rubber: Ethylene Propylene (EP) Phosphate Ester Resistant Low Temperature Tg -67 °F (-55 °C), 75 to 85 Type M Hardness for Seals in Hydraulic Systems
This specification covers ethylene propylene rubber for molded rings, molded compression seals, molded O-rings, and molded-in-place gaskets for use in aviation and aerospace applications. Applications The material is resistant to AS1241 Type IV Class 1 and Type V Grade A and Grade B phosphate ester fluids, but use is not limited to such applications. The material is not suitable for use with AS1241 Type IV Class 2 fluids. The expected service temperature range for this material is -75 to 250°F (-59 to 121°C), occasionally up to 300°F. The expected low temperature limit is derived from industry practice and is a 15°F (8°C) lower use temperature setback (TR10). The service temperature range for the material is a general temperature range, but specific fluids and specific design requirements may modify this range. Each application should be considered individually. This specification is intended for static applications and is intended to provide an ethylene propylene rubber compound with improved low temperature properties for use in hydraulic seals. It has not been evaluated for dynamic applications. It is the user's responsibility to determine if this specification is appropriate for their use environment (temperature range, fluid exposure, dynamic use, etc.). Order of Precedence Nothing in this document supersedes applicable laws and regulations, unless specifically exempted. This specification is in addition to the requirements of the applicable procurement documents and does not in any way limit, replace or annul any contractual obligations. In the event of conflicting requirements, the order of precedence shall be: 1. the procurement documents or contract agreement and all statutory and regulatory requirements (excluding this document); 2. the applicable buyer's drawings or part standards; 3. specifications referenced by the drawings; 4. this document; 5. all specifications referenced by this document. Safety Hazards Materials Although the materials, methods, applications, and processes described or referenced in this specification may involve the use of hazardous materials, this specification does not address the hazards that may be present in such use. It is the sole responsibility of the user to ensure familiarity with the safe and proper use of any hazardous materials and to take the necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of all persons involved.
