1. Scope 1.1 This standard applies to: a) design; b) location; (c) construction; (d) exploitation; e) the maintenance of installations, regardless of their location, which are used for the liquefaction of natural gas, storage, regasification, transfer, handling and transport by tankers of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as well as the appropriate training of the employees concerned. 1.2 This standard covers all tanks for LNG storage, including vacuum-insulated tanks. 1.3 This standard does not apply to tanks in frozen ground. 1.4 This standard includes non-mandatory guidelines for small LNG facilities (see definition of in section 2.1 and see section B2.1). 1.5 This standard does not cover: a) the transport of refrigerant liquids; (b) the transport of LNG by train, ship or pipeline; (c) installations designed to enable the use of LNG as fuel for road vehicles, locomotives and LNG tankers. 1.6 Unless otherwise stated, all pressure values in this document are gauge pressures. 1.7 All pipe diameters are nominal diameters (NPS). 1.8 In this standard values are expressed in SI (metric) units.
