Scope
"This standard sets forth minimum design@ construction and performance requirements with due consideration for operation of the liquid radioactive waste processing system for boiling water reactor plants for @routine operation including design basis fuel leakage and design basis occurrences. For the purpose of this Standard@ the liquid radioactive waste processing system begins at the interfaces with the reactor coolant pressure boundary@ at the interface valve(s) in lines from other systems and at those sumps and floor drains provided for liquid waste with the potential of containing radioactive material. The system terminates at the point of controlled discharge to the environment@ at the point of interface with the waste solidification system and at the point of recycle back to storage for reuse. The standard does not include the reactor coolant clean-up system@ fuel pool clean-up system@ sanitary waste system@ any nonaqueous liquid system or controlled area storm drains.1 1 The liquid radioactive waste processing system is not a safety class system as defined by ""Nuclear Safety Criteria for the Design of Stationary Boiling Water Reactor Plants@"" proposed American National Standard N212. Draft 4@ Revision 2@ April 1974. The provisions contained in this Standard@ ""therefore@ shall take precedence to those in draft standard N212. Correspondence should be addressed to: Walter H. D'Ardenne@ General Electric Company@ 175 Curtner Avenue@ San Jose@ CA 95125."
