Scope
1. PURPOSE 1.1 This method describes a procedure for the elimination and dosage of certain types of non-fibrous materials likely to be present on textiles. 1.2 Due to the wide variety of substances that can be added to textiles during manufacturing and the difficulties involved in removing some of these materials, this method does not provide a procedure for the removal of all types of substances. non-fibrous materials. Removing some primers may require the use of numerous chemicals. In general, each fabric that is to be analyzed for non-fibrous content should be considered individually. 1.3 The types of fibers and the types of finishes present on a textile will determine the operating procedures to be used. 1.4 Although the scope of this method does not include the identification of non-fibrous materials, reference may be made to the bibliography given in the section entitled Remarks. 1.5 Testing and evaluating a product against this method may require the use of materials or equipment that may be hazardous. This document does not intend to cover all aspects related to the safety of its use. It is up to the user of the method to obtain information from the competent authorities and to adopt health and safety practices in accordance with applicable regulations before using it.
