This standard specifies the technical requirements, inspection rules, packaging, transportation and storage, as well as marking for auxiliary marine battery installations (referred to as battery installation), excluding main propulsion power. It is applicable to fixed-installation batteries on ships other than primary motive force, including lead-acid batteries and lithium iron phosphate batteries.
Marine Battery Installation Standard GB/T 13603-2023 replaces the previous version GB/T 13603-2012. It details technical requirements for auxiliary battery installations on ships, covering materials, design and structure, capacity, general battery group requirements, starting battery group requirements, testing methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, transportation, and storage. Major updates include expanded application requirements for marine lithium iron phosphate batteries and additional testing methodologies.
