Purpose: This specification covers the requirements for ion vapor deposition (IVD) of aluminum on steel, titanium, and aluminum alloys. Application: The process is typically used to improve the corrosion resistance of ferrous parts at operating temperatures up to 925°F (496°C) without risk of hydrogen embrittlement and solid metal embrittlement, but use is not limited to such applications. Safety - Hazardous Materials: Although the materials, methods, applications, and processes described or referenced in this specification may involve the use of hazardous materials, this specification does not deal with the hazards that may be present in such use. It is the sole responsibility of the user to ensure familiarity with the safe and proper use of any hazardous material and to take the necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of all persons involved.
