Introduction

Standard Evolution and Technical Background

AS1895 has been revised six times since its first publication in 1985. The main updates of the 2024 F edition include:

  • Removal of QPL certification for 6.50-7.50 inch standard profile
  • Added AMS5737 nut material specification
  • Bolt strength increased to a minimum requirement of 160 ksi

Key Material Specifications

Seal Assembly Example

AS1895/7 standard seals at 1200°F must meet the following requirements:

  • No plating peeling for 1000 hours
  • Leakage rate ≤0.01 SCFM/inch pipe diameter
  • Tested to 200,000 pressure cycles

Certification Test Matrix

Test Items Method Section Judgment Criteria
Static Pressure Test 4.5.1 Expansion ≤0.017"(Type I)
Vibration Test 4.5.4 5-2000Hz frequency sweep
Torque test 4.5.3 See Table 5 limits

Implementation recommendations

  1. Material selection: Nickel-based alloy 718/625 pipes are preferred. Non-stabilized corrosion-resistant alloys are prohibited.
  2. Welding control: The flatness of the flange after welding must meet the classification requirements of Clause 3.3.5.1.
  3. Safety lock verification: Components larger than 5 inches must be tested for anti-misinstallation.
  4. Temperature compensation: Load values must be corrected according to Table 3 for high temperature conditions.
