Scope

This part of IEC 60502 specifies the construction, dimensions and test requirements for 6 kV to 30 kV extruded solid insulated power cables used in fixed installations such as distribution networks or industrial facilities. When determining the application, it is recommended to consider the possible risk of radial water ingress. This part includes the design of cables claimed to prevent longitudinal water penetration and the related tests. Cables for special installation and use conditions, such as overhead networks, mining industry, nuclear power plants (inside and outside the containment area), and cables used on the seabed or on ships are not included.
