This standard applies to lamp controlgear of the resistance@ reactance@ and electronic (solid state) types for use with electric discharge lamps that are intended to be installed or used on branch circuits of 600 V nominal or less@ in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code@ Part I@ Safety Standard for Electrical Installations@ CSA C22.1 (CEC Part I); the Canadian Electrical Code@ Part II@ General Requirements@ CSA C22.2 No. 0; the National Electrical Code (NEC)@ ANSI/NFPA 70; and La Norma de Instalaciones Electricas [Mexican Electrical Code (MEC)]@ NOM-001-SEDE. This Standard also applies to other auxiliary equipment associated with discharge lighting. This Standard does not apply to: a) Neon transformers or power supply sources covered by CSA C22.2 No. 255 and UL 2161; b) Power supplies for low voltage landscape lighting covered by CSA C22.2 No. 250.7 and UL 1838; and c) LED drivers@ controllers@ arrays@ modules@ or packages. This Part 1 is to be used in conjunction with the appropriate Part 2@ which contains clauses to supplement or modify the corresponding clauses in this standard. In Mexico@ this standard applies only to control devices with a single-phase or two-phase voltage of 2@000 V or less@ based on that which is described in NOM-001-SEDE. The nominal supply voltage of these control devices includes one or more of the following: 120 V@ 127 V@ 220 V@ 240 V@ 254 V@ 277 V@ 440 V@ and 480 V a.c. with momentary variances of ??10%@ 60 Hz and 24 V d.c. This standard also applies to electronic control devices that can operate on a continuous range of supply voltages@ as long as this range includes one or more of the voltages mentioned above. In Canada and the United States@ this requirement does not apply. In Mexico@ for multi-voltage or multi-terminal control devices@ specifications are verified at the voltage indicated by the corresponding test method. In Canada and the United States@ this requirement does not apply.
