Scope: This standard specifies the type designation method for military electronic measuring instruments (hereinafter referred to as instruments). It applies to military electronic measuring instruments, including single instruments, test systems, related software products, and accessories.

This standard is developed by the Comprehensive Planning Bureau of the Equipment Development Department of the Central Military Commission. The drafting units include the Fourth Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Electronic Components Contract Management Office, and the 41st Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation. The main drafters are Huang Yinghua, Li Zhou, Gao Yuan, and Jiang Yan.

The standard includes guidelines for the type designation of single instruments, test systems, and related software products and accessories. It also references other relevant standards such as GJB 3947A-2009 and GJB 9133. The type designation consists of the manufacturer's mark, a four-digit number (category number, feature number, product differentiation number), and an improvement sequence number if applicable.
