This Standard describes the requirements for paper and film-paper dielectric capacitors with other than poly chlorinated byphenyl (PCB) impregnants@ hermetically sealed in metal cases for general purpose applications on ac voltages. They are intended for use with motors@ high intensity discharge (HID) lighting ballasts@ ferro resonant transformer power supplies@ some power factor correction@ and other. applications. The capacitors are rated for service in 50 Hz or 60 Hz circuits and may be operated at case temperatures shown in 3.4.
