Scope

This standard establishes guidelines for emergency preparedness and response for oil and gas industry systems. Prevention, continuity and recovery are covered in other standards. This standard applies to oil and gas industry systems, including pipeline systems (handling oil, gas, oilfield water, liquid products, multiphase fluids and slurries), liquefied natural gas production, storage and processing facilities, storage or disposal of hydrocarbons and hydrogen in underground rock formations, petrochemical units (such as refineries, natural gas processing plants, etc.), exploration and development, etc. This standard does not apply to offshore oil and gas activities, oil and liquefied natural gas ships, and customer pipeline systems. It also excludes emergency preparedness and response for the transportation of liquid or gas energy by rail, road or ship.
