Scope
This Standard provides the design requirements for the fuel oil system for diesel-generators that provide standby power for a nuclear power generating station. The system includes all essential equipment from and including fuel oil storage tanks up to the terminal connection on the diesel-engine. It does not include that portion of the fuel oil system supplied by the dieselgenerator manufacturer which is in accordance with Trial-Use Criteria for Diesel-Generator Units Applied as Standby Power Supplies for Nuclear Power Generating Stations@ IEEE-387-1972.[1]1 This definition of scope is intended to exclude only those factoryassembled@ engine-mounted appurtances supplied with a diesel-generator unit. Integral tanks are@ however@ within the scope of this Standard. It alsoe excludes motors@ motor control centers@ switchgear@ cables@ and other electrical equipment which is used in operation of the fuel oil system@ except to define interface requirements. The standard provides specific information on requirements for system function and performance@ component design and performance@ provisions for system and component testing and maintenance@ instrumentation and control@ and fire protection. It also sets forth other specific design requirements such as safety class@ materials@ physical arrangement@ and applicable codes and regulations. 1Numbers in brackets refer to corresponding numbers in Section 11@ References.
