This specification covers the requirements for vacuum deposited cadmium. This process is typically used to provide corrosion resistant coatings on high strength ferrous parts where operating temperatures do not exceed 450°F (232°C) and where hydrogen embrittlement needs to be avoided, but use is not limited to such applications. Deposition is "line of sight" and may not be suitable for certain interior surfaces. Although the materials, methods, applications, and processes described or referenced in this specification may involve the use of hazardous materials, this specification does not deal with the hazards that may be present in such use. It is the sole responsibility of the user to ensure familiarity with the safe and proper use of any hazardous material and to take the necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of all persons involved.
