AAP-47 describes how NATO develops operational-level Allied joint doctrine covered in AJPs. AJPs provide operational-level guidance to Joint forces to achieve Alliance operational to strategic objectives. Allied doctrine not covered in AJPs (level- 3 doctrine) is not strictly within the remit of this publication. Chapter 1@ Section 5 does@ however@ offer some guidance to give coherence among Allied publications. Purpose This publication gives guidance to those involved in developing AJPs. All AJPs must be developed in accordance with the procedures outlined in this publication.
