- PREFACE This volume includes papers presented at a symposium on long-term serviceability of concrete structures held at the annual convention of the American Concrete Institute@ November 1987 in Seattle@ Washington. It also includes other papers which were received but could not be presented due to time limitations. The objective of the symposium was to stimulate discussion and enhance understanding among researchers and practicing engineers involved in work requiring the most up-to-date data and techniques for assessing the long-term serviceability of new and existing structures@ The topics covered include rehabilitation; tall buildings; bridges; and earthquake@ nuclear@ and cylindrical structures. All thirteen papers in this volume were reviewed in accordance with the AC1 review procedure. The cooperation of the authors and the reviewers in meeting a tight schedule made this publication possible.
