This specification covers extruded bars, rods, wire, shapes, and tubes of aluminum alloys having a nominal diameter or minimum thickness (see 8.5) not exceeding 5.000 in. (127.00 mm). These extrusions are generally used for structural components requiring high strength, moderate fatigue strength, good stress corrosion resistance, and good fracture toughness, but use is not limited to such applications.
