Scope
This National Standard of Canada is based on International Standard IEC/IEC 888:1987 (first edition, 1987-12). 1. Scope of application This standard is applicable to zinc-plated steel wires used for the manufacture and/or reinforcement of conductors for overhead electrical power transmission lines. It covers all wires used in compositions that use individual wire diameters, including coating, ranging from 1.25mm to 5.50mm. Three grades of steel are provided to meet the needs of conductor users: normal steel, high strength steel and very high strength steel. Two classes of coating are considered depending on the minimum mass of zinc it contains per surface unit: class A and class B.
